EASY Wire Ghosts

Easy Wire Ghosts, Hanging Ghosts, Outdoor Ghosts, Trash Can Crafts, Wire Can Ghost, Cheap Crafts, Dollar Tree Crafts, Easy Crafts, Fall Crafts

Hi friends,

My youngest and I were recently strolling the aisles of Dollar Tree, eyeing all the fun fall decor, crafting items, and the Christmas items already out! We were actually there for something else, but in all the looking, found these small wired wastebaskets along the way. Typical, right? Haha. But, it worked to my benefit because they were stored upside down and I easily pictured them being cute ghosts.

The craft came together in minutes and only required a few items. The ghosts can be placed on a table, outside on a step/bench, on the lawn, hung from your porch, or right on your trees! The best part, they can display 2 different expressions! Check out our wire ghosts below.

What You'll Need

  1. White Wire Wastebasket

  2. (4) Large Googly Eyes

  3. (2) Black Pipe Cleaners

  4. Weather Resistant Hot Glue

  5. Floral Wire

  6. Wire Cutters

The Steps

  1. Turn your wastebasket upside down.

  2. Add a large plop of glue onto the back of one googly eye, let it sit for 10 seconds, and then press the eye onto the wire basket.

  3. Repeat with the 2nd eye and place evenly or at an angle for a goofy look.

  4. Turn the wastebasket around to the back and repeat the process.

5. Use 1 pipe cleaner for the smile and twist the ends slightly.

6. Shape your mouth into a wide circle, smiling lips, or a silly mouth, repeat for the 2nd side of the ghost.

7. Add glue to the mouth, let it sit for 10 seconds, and then carefully press onto the basket. Repeat with the opposite side.

8. With the wire cutter, cut some wire, loop through the top of the basket, and twist the ends shut.

That’s it!

The top 2 are Naomi’s ghost and mine is the set below.

We hung them here to get a darker background but ideally, they would be further apart and in a spot where both expressions are visible.

Happy crafting!
